On Sunday 11th June our Senior & Masters athletes traveled to CIT Cork for the Munster Track & Field Championships.
Representing our club in the Seniors was Rossa Foley & Kayleigh Cronin. Kayleigh was first in the 1Kg Discus (44.81m). Rossa was second in the Javelin (38.90m), third in the Triple Jump (12.02m), fourth in the Discus (25.57m), fifth in the 56lb weight for distance and fifth in the Shot.
In the Masters there was eight individual medals won by our four club members. Jerome Foley (O50) had an outstanding day when winning his age category in the 400m (1:00.95) & 800m (2:17). A great result following time out due to injury.
Maria McCarthy(O40) was our only masters lady. Maria had a great day, winning her age category comfortably in the 3000m (10:44) and 1500m (5:11).
Jim O'Shea competing in his new age category (O75) did very well also. Gold in the 100m sprint (16.48sec), Long Jump (3.79m), High Jump (1.20m).
Dermot Dineen (O35) represented himself very well when he was 2nd in the 1500m (5:00) & finishing 6th place in the 3000m (10:41).
Munster Senior & Masters T&F Championships, Sunday 11th June - Senior Results Master Results
On June 3rd Leanne Cronin represented her college, Killorglin Community College, in the National Schools Intermediate 3Kg Hammer throw. Leanne represented the school well when she finished in 6th place out of a field of ten.
Seven of our Juveniles traveled to Ardfert on Monday 4th June to take part in St. Brendan's AC Open Sports Day. They all did very well.
Club Training:
Juvenile Training: Outdoors on Tuesday's at 6pm in the Sports Hall, Farranfore. €2 per session. New members welcome.
Secondary School /Junior / Senior training every Thursday at 6:40pm in GAA Grounds Farranfore. This is endurance training for all levels with emphasis on running form and technique. €2 club member, €4 non club member.
